How to incorporate swirls into an angel wing tattoo.?

I am going to get a pair of angel wings tattooed on my wrist, but would like to incorporate some swirly designs. any ideas on how to do this?
i.e around the edges, from the side, at the last feather?
or would this be too much?
the wings i want would be about 2.5 inches in length and 2 inches across in total, and coming together in a somewhat heart shape!
